John McLeod is a retired, progressive educator whose history with Tibet, Tibetans and Tibetan Buddhism spans decades. While first visiting Tibet with his wife CIndy in 1986, they became infatuated with the culture, history and spiritual teachings. Later, while working at the Tibetan Children’s Village in (ironically) McLeod Ganj in 1999-2000, John conducted interviews with twenty-three elders, soliciting memories of life in pre-invasion Tibet. His objective was to better understand the roots of a compassion-filled life. One person, Tsewang Dorjee stood out because of his eloquent and lively recollections of his remarkable life and his rich retelling of traditional tales. John and his family live at Story Ranch, a farm/wilderness retreat center in northern New Mexico in the United States.
